Converse Japan April 2009 - Jack Purcell + Chuck Taylor + Skidgrip

You can’t go wrong with either the Converse Jack Purcell or their iconic Chuck Taylor All Star. Might we be saying the same of the Skidgrip soon? Seen recently in a revival of old school skate brand Jams, the Skidgrip is back as one of the more impressive members of Converse Japan’s April 2009 collection. The pair pictured above features a black toe with a rainbow-sherbert like panel that fades from orange to pink to purple. There’s also a dope pair of black woven Jack Purcells and two different takes on a floral pattern applied to the hightop Chuck. via HB

Reebok “Action Comics” Collection

Seen sparingly in recent memory has been Reebok’s Action Comics/Super Hero pack. With more information and further looks, the pack was inspired by one of America’s most storied comic franchises “Action Comics”. The series which originally began in 1938 was published by what is now commonly known as DC Comics. Undoubtedly, the most popular debutant via Action Comics was none other than Superman in issue #1, effectively creating one of the most sought-after comics of all time. With Reebok this collection takes references of color and graphic inspirations through styles which include the Insta Pump Fury, Sole-Trainer, Inferno and Sir Jam Low. The pack has already hit select retailers, check with your local Reebok dealer for availability.

Nitraid x Nike Dunk Mid Elite SB - Digi Camo

A few months ago, we gave you a look at a pretty interesting new Nike Dunk Mid Elite SB and now we bring you the latest news on this super-fresh concoction. It seems that Nike has once again joined forces with Japanese label, Nitraid to create a new look for the Dunk Mid SB. Like their Air Force 1 collaboration, the most noticeable aspect of these kicks is the pixelated camouflage that covers the strap and heel section of the shoe. The camo print is offset by a premium black leather upper with red accents and stitching and a silver piping that outlines certain sections of the shoe. This Dunk also has a cool goldfish illustration printed on the insoles. In addition to their juicy collaboration with Nike, Nitraid also has a skate video soon to be released on DVD and you can pick up a pair of the Dunk Mid Elite SB’s now at Breaker. via High Snobiety

Nike Dunk High - Black - Varsity Royal

With the Nike Dunk enjoying such popularity these days, it is hard to keep up with all the colorways that are dropping at a constant rate. In the case of this latest version, it is very refreshing to see such a simple color scheme used instead of the wilder specimens that have become so commonplace. This Nike Dunk High features a mostly black on black suede upper that is contrasted by a bright royal blue hue on the toe section and the outsole. To spice things up a little bit, the blue section on the front of the shoe sports a tonal dotted pattern that gives the panel a nice textured look in comparison with the flat black base that surrounds it. This color combination and simplistic design really draws your attention to the classic silhouette of the Dunk. If you are impressed with this nice minimalist approach, you can get a pair of your own at Limited EDT.

Nike Terminator High Basic - Four New Colors

The Nike Terminator High is set to have a big month in July 2009, but why wait?. Four new pairs of Basic-edition Terminators have released in bright colours just in time for spring. All four feature white leather uppers and midsoles and each features a contrasting colour on the toebox and eyelets. Throw in a multicoloured ‘Nike’ on the heel of each and these have a nice springy feel. The red/white and green/white pairs are for the gents, while the pink and yellow joints are both made just for ladies. You can cop any or all of these now from LTD Online.

Ubiq Ilis x Looney Tunes

Japanese brand Ubiq has worked on an Ilis in collaboration with Looney Tunes. The sneaker comes with a canvas upper and an interesting zipper insert, which can be taken off. Especially from Japan we see often the addition of zippers on the lacing or the side of a sneaker. The fact that this is a Looney Tunes collaboration is somewhat disappoiting, as you can hardly see it and many more creative things could have been done.

The Ubiq Ilis x Looney Tunes sneakers come in black and white and are now available at Mischief.
